Form
The foundation of Hold Up Upholstery is built on a fascination with how objects are shaped, reimagined, and preserved. My approach cultivated through training at some of the UK’s most prestigious institutions, including the Royal College of Art, Chelsea College of Art, Brighton University, and the London Metropolitan University.
These academic foundations sparked a rich internal dialogue between different design eras. My work is heavily influenced by the clean, purposeful lines of modernism, the bold, rule-breaking expression of postmodernism, and the techniques of traditional design. This eclectic background allows me to look at every piece of furniture not just as an object, but as a canvas. I am particularly passionate about working with natural textiles and injecting unexpected, playful uses of colour into my projects, creating a balance between historical awareness and contemporary flair.
Function
At Hold Up Upholstery, design philosophy seamlessly translates into practical execution. The way I work is rooted in meticulousness and precision at every single stage of the process.
A driving force behind my work is the desire to restore, preserve, or create pieces that are built to endure. Because of this, Hold Up functions with an eco-aware mindset, and I am always eager to discuss and integrate sustainable options for every project.
